And so today another school year begun. For those of you who follow along with us I will proudly let you know that no child was sent off on the wrong school bus.....mostly because Ellie was smart enough to make me stay home.....
As you can see Max was excited to get back to his kingdom where his loyal subjects awaited him. His only problem this year will be learning that it isn't as easy to charm a "boy teacher" as it is a "girl teacher". Especially when this "boy teacher" is married to your first grade "girl teacher" which means he's already been exposed to all of Max's usual tricks. Good luck Max, good luck Mr. Doutrich!

I have a good friend whose daughter has a connective tissue disorder (it was discovered or diagnosed or whatever) when she was probably 8 or so. I think the first part of it is Ehlers ... something or another. Until then they didn't know, believe it or not. She has no other issues, at the moment at least, however. Love your description of your son and his "loyal" subjects and how he'll learn it's harder to charm a "boy teacher." Made me smile. And yet another friend has recommended a book ("There's Something About Daniel") that made her both laugh and cry. Yes, it's about the author's life with and love for her son Daniel, with complex needs, but EVERY mom can relate! She tells stories about her son and his various challenges and milestones; it's just filled with heart and humor, and love and faith and all those other good things. It's inspiring.
